Patrick Farrant is a partner at global legal and advisory practice Taylor Vinters LLP, where he leads the multidisciplinary Technology Group.

Patrick is a nationally recognised leading IP lawyer specialising in looking after technology businesses’ commercial needs, he loves getting IP deals done. He has developed a detailed knowledge of the interface between the public and private sectors and works extensively with high-growth entrepreneurial businesses. Throughout his career, Patrick has specialised in IP matters and technology (in particular patents and know-how), with a particular focus on the life sciences sector.

Patrick read law at the University of London and he qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and joined Taylor Vinters in 2005, moving his team from a major national law firm. Patrick is regularly endorsed as a leading IP lawyer in Legal 500, Chambers and PLC’s Which Lawyer (Life Sciences) Guide. He is also a Chair of the University of Cambridge’s Technology Appeals Tribunal.

He is a dual UK and Swiss national and fluent French speaker. He is also a regular indie gig-goer (although sadly rarely now seen in the mosh pit!). He comes from a family steeped in books.  His mother was a bookseller, his stepmother and editor, and his grandfather a bookbinder.
