Irish author and Malcolm Bradbury Trust alumnus Rose Keating is set to debut her short story collection, Oddbody, in July 2025.

Since graduating from the MA in Creative Writing program at the University of East Anglia—where Rose was awarded the Malcolm Bradbury Trust Memorial Scholarship (2020/1)—Keating has received a series of prestigious awards. These include the Curtis Brown Prize, Marian Keyes Young Writer Award, the Write Here, Write Now Prize, and the Ted and Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary.

Having signed with Ed Wilson at Johnson & Alcock, Oddbody will be published by Canongate in the UK & Commonwealth, and Simon & Schuster in the US.

Described by Simon & Schuster as a “captivating short story collection that delves into the weirdness of bodies and existence itself,” Oddbody takes readers on a “bold journey through the intricacies of sex, shame, and womanhood” from the perspective of social outsiders and outcasts. The collection features ten enchanting stories, described as “an emotional masterpiece that challenges us to reflect on the movement and needs of our bodies.”

Oddbody promises to be a provocative debut that questions what it means to be human.

The Trust is proud to have played a part in her journey with the Malcolm Bradbury Trust Memorial Scholarship during her MA studies at the UEA.

Congratulations to Rose on this remarkable milestone!
