A former Fleet Street hack Neil Thompson moved into television in 1989, initially with the network factual team at LWT.

Since then he has worked across ITV as a programme producer, commissioner and executive, making a mix of multi genre programmes for both the broadcaster as well as a range of other channels. Currently he’s Editor of ITV’s three hour breakfast programme Good Morning Britain having relaunched the daily news magazine in 2014.

Elsewhere, as well as being a trustee of the Malcolm Bradbury Trust, he is the Visiting Professor of Broadcast News at the University of Sunderland, a member of BAFTA and sits on the Royal Television Society’s Education Committee.

Based in London he returns home to the Suffolk/Norfolk border at weekends. He’s been married to Emma, a psychotherapist, since 1993 and they have three twenty-something daughters.
